A dream has come true, and the Asian American Pacific Islander Entertainment (AAPI) community is filled with unwavering pride. CHIME, which stands for Creating History in Media Entertainment, is a general entertainment television network and digital platform dedicated to serving the AAPI communities. The said platform is the one and only 24-hour channel that features the voices and narratives of Asian Americans and people of Asian descent worldwide.
Founded by Filipino American and the CEO of the National Diversity Coalition (NDC), Faith Bautista, takes the first step to provide an opportunity to represent the AAPI community in mainstream media. In her recent LinkedIn post, she expresses her gratitude towards her CHIME TV family as they celebrate the TV network’s launch event at the Japanese American National Museum on January 21, 2023, in Los Angeles along with the US government officials, AAPI celebrities, producers, advertisers, embassies, influencers, and media from all over the country. CHIME TV was hailed as the First Asian American TV network. Meanwhile, Bautista was regarded as the only female Asian American TV network owner.
“Words cannot express how happy I am that CHIME TV is finally on air after so much time and effort was done to make something as historical and as impactful come into fruition,” she said.
January 23, 2023 marks the birth of a new network through CHARTER’S SPECTRUM TV SELECT, Channel 147 in New York City and Los Angeles, considering the expansion of the network via spectrum across 10 million households in 41 states, and other spectrum cities will highlight Asian excellence by providing the best representational content all over the world.
CHIME TV offers a diverse range of modern worldwide entertainment, more than 70% of which is new to US TV audiences featuring dramas, comedies, procedurals, food, travel, lifestyle, wellness, news, mixed martial arts (MMA), and digital creator content. CHIME TV will debut with a weekly half-hour original, Owning A Piece of America, hosted by founder Faith Bautista and airing on Sundays at 3 p.m. ET. This will also be accessible on a variety of devices and platforms, including smart TVs, mobile devices, tablets, desktop computers, and laptops. Through its mission of spreading positivity, creativity, and enthusiasm for Asian American Pacific American culture, it has now been given a voice to break the barriers in the Asian community.
