Kamala Harris is a historical figure in the political aspect of America. She is the first female and first Asian American vice president making her the highest-ranking female official in U.S. history. She won last 2020 and currently serving her position alongside U.S. President Joe Biden and their administration. Kamala Harris is a long-time public servant as she started her career as a district attorney of San Francisco from 2004 to 2011 before taking the bigger role of being the attorney general of California from 2011 to 2017, she served in this position for two consecutive terms. Furthermore, Kamala won the 2016 senatorial elections where she advocated different economical aspects such as healthcare, citizenship, and tax reform.

Vice President Kamala Harris was born in Oakland, California, and a daughter of a Jamaican father and an Indian mother that are both migrants. Both of her parents were activists, giving her a strong viewpoint of the importance of fighting for what is right. She is a firm leader advocating civil rights for immigrants and racial justice. Kamala is known as a woman of color as she continuously seeks a strong relationship not just with Asian Americans but also with Black people.
As an Asian American, Kamala was not exempted from being a victim of racial attacks. The public figure does not fail to address Asian American issues specifically the horror of social injustices brought by racism. One of her undergoing proposals is the call for primary action to protect DACA recipients, addressing language barriers and financial and political support for AAPI communities. She fearlessly uses her authority to address confidential issues such as former U.S. President Trump’s racial statement towards Asians due to the COVID-19 pandemic, pointing fingers at what he said as the “Chinese virus”.
Living the title “Woman of Color” and “First Asian-American”, Kanala Harris proudly assured to be the voice and give voices to the AAPI community.
